Bullet Reality

Nothing can be more ancient than the existence of magic right? Bullet Reality is one of the entries that were submitted for the recently concluded Ludum Dare Challenge with a theme featuring Ancient technology and I guess Frump managed to utilize everything to make this game perfect for such category. Simple and fun! I guess those are two words that you can use to perfectly describe this wonderful game. Bullet Reality simply follows a story of a lovely girl who discovered and obtained a mysterious stone tablet that eventually provided her the power of becoming a witch. However, this ended in a catastrophe resulting to an invasion of pesky ancient robots. Now, you must use your newly gained power to stop this mess and bring your world back to its perfect harmony.

Interestingly, Bullet Reality is done and played in a retro style of gaming. It is your classic side scrolling shoot em up game. It is played in a strict linear progression where your character will arrive from the far left side and will travel all the way to the other site indefinitely. The game will run continuously as long as your character has remaining lives to spend. The enemies will arrive in great waves from the far right side and they can also hit you from afar. As a witch, you are empowered with the ability to fly through your broomstick and you are given with the ability to shoot magic but what really makes the game challenging is the game’s complex controls. You can only move up and down but you can switch from one mode to another through mouse clicks. You can switch to Fly Mode to Flap mode. Fly mode allows you to move up continuously while flap mode requires you to click the left mouse button with proper intervals (just think of Flappy Bird).

You can also shoot stars by pressing the left arrow key. You can hold it down for infinite shot or you can just press it for short-term attack. Luckily, there is infinite ammo and you do not have to worry anything about limitations. The only thing you have to take care off aside from eliminating enemies is to prevent them from inflicting too much damage to your character. Take note that once you have sustained too much damages, your character will be killed and the game will come to a quick end. This will give you no other option but to start the game back from the very beginning. The game, despite of repetitive details still offers a decent amount of challenge and an impressive replay value because of its unpredictability. Enemies usually arrive either in small or big waves and you just have to be very cautious about them since they have different behaviors and way of attack. Overall, Bullet Reality is an engaging side-scrolling game that provides some sort of nostalgic experience and fun!

Geometry Dash

Annoyingly satisfying! I guess that is how I can perfectly describe Geometry Dash. Sometimes, it is really not about the graphics. This game made me realized that it doesn’t always have to be visually engaging in order to enjoy a game. Geometry Dash will take you to a simple and seemingly repetitive side scrolling journey in which your main goal is nothing more but to get the highest score as possible by running as fast as you can. Here, you will be controlling a dashing square and it is your mission to evade all the obstacles that you will encounter along the way otherwise, your game will come to a quick end and you have no other option but to start back from the very beginning. So if you think you are skillful enough to master this game, then feel free to explore Geometry Dash and see how far your skills can take you.

It is a very simple game with a very simple mechanics but despite of its apparent simplicity, the challenge that Geometry Dash has to offer is truly beyond expectation. Interestingly, you only have to deal with one key. You can press the space bar, the W key, the Up key , the CTRL or even just the mouse click in order to jump from one platform to another. Please be mindful that the game is done and played in a strict linear progression and you are not entitled to stop or to go back. As soon as the game begins, the square will automatically move forward with a speed that is gradually increasing as you progress. Along the way, you will encounter spikes and you must not touch them at all cost, otherwise it is over. Take note that you have no items to collect or anything that can help you in the process so make sure to keep yourself alert to any obstacles coming your way.

The mechanics are indeed very simple but the player is strongly encouraged to exert the best of his eye and hand coordination in order to maximize his chances in winning. Interestingly, every time you get killed, you will be dealing with the same set of obstacles which gives you an opportunity to master the levels but of course, it is still depends on your skill. Keep in mind that it is not just about jumping from one platform to another as most obstacles requires proper timing and momentum in order to surpass them. You will honestly find it annoying when you keep on dealing with the same level over and over again but it is oddly satisfying at the same time especially if you manage to break your personal record. Speaking of which, the game also offers a leaderboard that displays the top scores from different players who have played the game. So if you are skillful enough, you might be able to make it on their top chart. Overall, Geometry Dash is a great game and absolutely worth playing with!

Papa’s Sushiria

There is really something intriguing with Flipline Studio’s epic Papa Louie game series that despite of following the same game format over and over and despite of dealing with the same quest , same set of characters and seeming the same mechanics, the games never failed to amuse us and we can’t help but to get very addicted to it. It seems like Flipline Studio perfected the formula and came up with such entertaining time management and strategy game. Now, they came up with another game to be added in their overwhelming collection: Papa’s Sushiria. Interestingly, the game was created as part of Papa Louie’s 10th Anniversary special and as what the title of the game suggests, you are about to deal with a shop that caters a wide variety of Sushi and your goal is to provide nothing but the best and fastest service that no other shops can offer in order to satisfy your customers. If you are ready for another epic time management adventure, then feel free to play Papa’s Sushiria and see how far your skills can take you.

Much like the rest of Papa Louie games, Papa Sushiria follows the same mechanics. The game will welcome you by allowing you to select your preferred character. You can select between default characters (Matt and Clover) or better yet create a custom character based on your own preferences. After doing so, you will be prompted to a brief cinematic introduction. It all started when you got an invited for a pre-opening tour in a newly opened Papa Sushiria. However, you accidentally bumped into their Lucky Cat statue and broke it. The day after, you found Papa Louie in such great despair because the shop isn’t doing well. So in order to buy another Lucky cat statue, you must help Papa Louie in the business and drive more customers so the shop will earn enough profit to buy the statue cat. Now, the fate of the shop lies to you. Take note that you will become a one-man crew and you have four different stations to work with. The first one is the Order Station where you will interact with the customers and take their respective orders. Each customer has their own specific demand and all of them will be written down in their tickets. Once the orders have been told, you may now proceed with the rest of the station which are needed to be taken sequentially.

The second working station is the Cook Station where you have to prepare the rice and other ingredients that a sushi needs based on the customer’s request. Once done, you may now proceed to the Build Station to garnish your sushi. The last station is the Tea Station where you must prepare the beverages and mix them all together according to the customers demand. Once done with all the preparation, you may now serve it to the customer where you will be scored and rated based on accuracy. If you are lucky enough, they might also give you tips and tickets. The tickets can be used to Foodini’s mini games where you can participate and win prizes in return. Generally, the scope of the game is merely the same with other Papa Louie games. It offers the same visually stunning interface, unique and amusing animation and engaging music. The gameplay is undeniably addictive and it really requires a lot of time since this is a kind of game that cannot be finished overnight as there are just too many areas to explore! Aside from its flash version, the game is also available on Android and iOS.

Heroes Tavern

In role playing game, a tavern usually plays a crucial role because this is the place where heroes buy their armors and weapons which will be used to their respective battles. In this game, we are not going to play the hero but the one who operates the tavern. Who would have thought that operating such tavern could be very exhausting huh? Heroes Tavern is a simple point and click game that will surely put your skills and your speed in a great test. Your main objective in this game is to build various weapons, put them on sale and earn the highest profit as much as possible. It may sounds so easy and manageable but the game is surprisingly challenging and tricky so if you think you are ready enough to run the tavern, then feel free to explore this game and see how far you can go.

As soon as the game begins, you will be prompted to the tavern which is presented in a top down perspective. The tavern is divided into five parts or compartments. The one near the road is the shopping area. It features 8 small panels where the finish items can be displayed. The four other compartments are the working stations. Each station can produce certain products. One is for magic powers for wizards, the other is a blacksmith area that produces weapons for mercenaries and warriors, the other one is for potions while the other is about armors. It is very interesting to note that you will start off your journey with the based money of 30 Gold and from here, you must learn how to make your business grow. The customers will soon arrive and they will show you their demands. Simply click on the right working station and hit the icon on the far right side so it can be processed and be displayed on your selling station.

It is a first come first serve basis so the buyer who will come in early has a great chance to avail the product first. Please be cautious, however, with their offers. Some heroes will tend to bargain and will buy items in such low price. Some will even ask to buy it with no charge! Make sure that you will not run out of money, otherwise, your game will come to a quick and you have no other option but to start again from the very beginning. The first phase of the game is indeed manageable but the challenge comes in when the heroes started to demand for upgraded items. You are empowered to upgrade the working stations to produce more items but the price will also increase exponentially which makes the game a lot trickier. If you are lucky enough and you have earned enough gold, you can also explore the next level which offers bigger challenges! Overall, Heroes Tavern is a simple yet surprisingly entertaining game that offers a decent amount of challenges for the players to enjoy! Have fun!

Music Crawler

It turns out that some of our ancestors managed to find way to enjoy music to an all new level of entertainment. Little did we know, they came up with a technology that allows them to play music and to play with crawlers (insect) as well. Music Crawler is a very simple upscrolling game but is surprisingly addictive. As what the title of the game suggests, you will be prompted into an ancient device that plays music. On top of this device is a conveyor that is filled with obstacles. The insect will be running through this seemingly endless running conveyor and your goal is to get the highest score as possible by reaching the farthest distance without bumping into any of the approaching obstacles. It is generally a retro-inspired game that is presented in a very cool way! Feel free to explore Music Crawler and see how far you can go.

It is very interesting to note that this game is done in a very limited time as part of their entry for the recently concluded Ludum Dare Challenge but despite the limitations, they were able to come up with such interesting concept. Appearance wise, the graphics are presented in a very simple manner yet I can’t help but to appreciate the neatness. As soon as the game begins, you will be prompted to a slim screen with the machine presented in a top down perspective. As soon as you hit the play button the system will automatically start. The insect will start moving and you can now manipulate its action by clicking the left and right arrow keys. The only movement that you can do is to move on both sides. You cannot move forward nor to move back (a deadly mechanism is actually chasing you from behind).

If you know how to play those classic upscroller games, then this game will somehow remind you of that. It is merely all about evading the obstacles and you earn points for every obstacle that you overcome. Apart from it, you can also earn additional points by collecting leaves and fruits along the way. Each will cost 5 additional points. The mechanics are indeed very simple but the player is still encouraged to visualize the game carefully and exert the best of his eye and hand coordination in order to maximize his chances of surviving. Take note that once you bump into any obstacle, your game will come to a quick end and you have no other option but to start the game back from the very beginning. Your highscore will be recorded and the obstacles are changing dynamically in each attempt which provides this game and impressive replay value. On top of that, the rate of difficulty will drastically increase as you progress as the machine will start to increase its speed.

Dynamons World

The hype of Pokemon Go might be over but we got new games for you to be addicted with! How about exploring Dynamons World? Dynamons World is a game that is merely based on the highly acclaimed and commercially successful Pokemon Games. The game follows the same concept but is presented in a different and somehow simplified manner. Generally, Dynamons World will embark you in a very exciting journey as you navigate the world of Dynamons and capture as many cute monsters as you can and become the next Dynamon Captain! In order to do so, you must set yourself into numerous battles and duels that you will encounter along the way. If you have played the real Pokemon games, then you should be very familiar with the process but if not, allow me to give you a brief info and guide you in this marvelous world of Dynamons.

The game begins by welcoming you in a brief and simple introduction. Jovani (a counterpart of Professor Oak) will introduce you to the process especially when it comes to the battle. After doing so, you will now be asked to select among the three starter Dynamon including Kikflick, Snorky and Torchip. Each starter Dynamon has different elements and they are equipped with different set of skills as well. Much like Pokemon, the battle system in this game is turn-based but with a twist. Here, a player will have a deck of skill cards for each monster and in every battle, some of these cards will be drawn and from there, you will be empowered to pick any attack you want your Dynamons to choose. This, however, is automatically generated so you better make the most out of it to maximize your chances in winning.

Character designs will also remind you of Pokemon because of their overwhelming cuteness and also their ability to evolve and transform. The mapping system however is different and is more simplified. You now have designated spots to explore and it is up to you whether you want to find monsters in that field or simply skip such spot. Some areas are inescapable though and you must find and defeat either the monsters or the trainer at all cost in order to progress. It is also interesting to note that you can use many monsters in a duel but you just have to switch them one at a time during the battle. Please be mindful as well that you are also encouraged to capture monsters and train them as your own afterwards. Every time you set them in a battle and win, the monsters will earn experience in return and once they have earned enough, they can finally evolve into a much powerful creature. Overall, Dynamons World is a very entertaining game and if you are a big Pokemon fan, this game is absolutely worth a try!

Lethal RPG : War Begins

Remember those days when Role Playing games are done and played in simple yet surprisingly complex manner? I still remember those amazing turn-based battle system brought by those nostalgic RPG like Final Fantasy and Suikoden and I can’t help myself but to appreciate those games that are paying tribute in such classic gameplay. Lethal RPG : War Begins is one of the few games that pay homage to this classic adventure. Embark yourself in another exciting adventure as you navigate the woods in a mission to save the threatened kingdom. Lethal RPG : War Begins follows a story of a warrior named Lethal and his journey to bring the kingdom back into its former glory, peace and harmony. In order to do so, he must set himself into an action and life risking mission to exterminate all the undead and end the terror in your kingdom.

Lethal RPG : War Begins follows the same format with those old role playing games but is presented in a more visually stunning interface. It feels like playing a remastered version of those classic games. Unlike those highly acclaimed games though, Lethal RPG : War Begins doesn’t offer any cinematic introduction or any cut scenes to emphasize the story but that is because this flash game version is simply a prelude to their bigger and wider full version for PC. I personally think that it lacks of originality though especially in terms of the character design. Lethal for an instance will somehow reminds everyone of Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy. Despite of the lack of originality, I personally enjoyed the game in general. The game perfectly captured and mastered the addictive formula of classic role playing games that we all grew up loving with. As far as the gameplay is concerned, the game will welcome you by introducing their battle system. Like any typical role playing game, the battle is done in a turn based system.

It is also very interesting to note that Lethal will not be in this mission alone. By default, you will be accompanied by other warriors including a mercenary like Allister and an Archer like Tanya. A wizard will also join you along the way. In the entire course of the game, the player is not just encouraged to deal with battles and fight against an overwhelming and seemingly interminable number of enemies. You are also required to accept various quest from different people that you will encounter along the way and you will get rewards in return. It is also your duty to upgrade your characters attributes to make them more efficient in the battle especially when it comes to dealing with various bosses. Some of the game’s highlights include a great number of achievements to unlock, pet system, special abilities to unfold and a decent amount of customizing features the players can play on. Overall, Lethal RPG is a great game and I just can’t wait to see what the full version has to offer!
